Sex toys with kids in the house

Ever since I started reviewing products for Better Sex, we have been getting lots of wonderful new toys and movies around the house. With snooping little eyes we wondered how it would work out. Here are the tricks we have learned about having and using adult products when kids are around.

  1. Noise level is important! A lot of the reviews on Better Sex talk about how loud a toy is, and that is very, VERY important when other ears are in the house. Some toys, like the Magic Massager, are very effective but also very loud.  If you have kids, you will want to be very far away from their room. But other toys, like the Maxx Pro, are super quiet while still getting the job done.
  2. Locks and gates are essential. Keep yourself in a different part of the house as your kids. This is not only so they do not hear the activity, but also so you can shut off the parent radar for awhile. If you can hear your kids snoring, it will be difficult to get in the mood. Baby gates allow enough of a buffer that you will know kids are coming long before they discover you. Even kids that can open gates make noise while they are doing it.
  3. Storage essentials. Put your toys, games, movies, and lubes away. We store ours in the toy of our closet in a discrete bag that the kids would not think anything about. If you use a fancy trunk, you will just attract more attention. We also take our movies out of their cases and store them in a DVD book. Less bulk!

Kids do not have to eliminate adventure from your sex life. You just have to be a bit more cautious in planning your rendezvous.

What tricks do you use to keep the heat alive with kids in the house? Comment below. We’d love to hear from you.

Our collection of toys and lubes is ever growing.  It looks like we buy vibrators and lube in bulk.  We've been looking for a good lockable chest.  I know that a big locked box draws attention, but I'd rather eyes focus on a box than at my 3 year-old running around banging a dildo on the coffee table like a hammer.  Are there any practical footlocker sized boxes out there that anyone has tried?

The First Lady and I each have a 3-drawer nightstand on our respective side of the bed. I installed a drawer lock on the 2nd drawer down on both hers and mine that we keep all of our favorite toys and movies in. I also installed eye hooks on the back of the headboard on both sides of the bed even though the locks are keyed alike. The keys are impossible to see and impossible to reach unless you are lying in bed, from where it is simple to grab the key, open the lock, and access whatever we want to use with little effort. We make sure to return to the drawer anything used (after cleaning of course) before we leave the bedroom and make sure the drawer is locked and the key returned to its hiding place. This has worked well for us for about 3 years now at a cost of about $10 and an hour of my time.

The CD case is by far the best move for your movies.  As well if you have younger children I have found that the magnetic safety locks for your kitchen will also work on you drawers in your bedroom.  As well these are hidden from any other visitors you may have.

We'e noticed our DVD collection has grown and started to become a concern of where to keep them from snooping eyes (kids and adults alike). The CD book is a great idea. Discrete and accessible are key.
