Better Sex Guide to Personal Lubricants

Lubricants, which one do I use?

Better Sex introduces our line of Better Sex Essentials ™:

A sex essential, lubricants are one of the most important accessories to intimate encounters. Lubes reduce friction, help to increase sensitivity, and provide a simple solution to female dryness. Lubrication is so essential we’ve modified an old cliché “you can never be too rich, too thin or have too much lubrication.”

Not all lubes are the same. Many of our customers have questions about when to use which lubes. The purpose of this page is to help you understand lubricants. Better Sex Essentials ™ Lubricants are available in three varieties:

  • Water based lubes- great for sex and adult sex toys
  • Gel lubes- thick viscosity provides consistent coverage
  • Silicone based lubes- good for playing in the water

Better Sex Essentials ™:

Better Sex Water Based Liquid Lubricant

Water based lubricants are glycerin free (a form of sugar that can cause yeast infections) for worry free vaginal use. They reactivate with a few drops of water or saliva, and do not cause stains.

Features:

  • Safe with virtually all adult sex toys
  • Can come in different flavors
  • Safe with condoms
  •

Be Aware of:

  • May need multiple applications or reactivation with moisture since natural evaporation occurs.

Better Sex Gel Lubricant

Water based gel lubes are thicker versions of liquid lubes. They can be reactivated, just like water based lubes, with a few drops of water or saliva. The thick viscosity of gel lubricants provide consistent coverage. Gel lubes are good for all sexual activities and particularly recommended for anal and toy use.

Features:

  • Thicker for no-mess, no-drip application
  • Recommended for anal use
  • Recommended for toy use
  • Safe with condoms

Be Aware of:

  • May need multiple applications or reactivation with moisture since natural evaporation occurs.

Better Sex Silicone Lubricant

Silicone based lubricants stay wet and slippery the longest, never drying out even when immersed in water. This makes silicone lubes perfect for pool, tub and water play. Remember though, that silicone lubes can damage silicone toys and the synthetic "real feeling" toys. They are also particularly recommended for anal and non-silicone toy use.

Features:

  • Perfect for pool, tub, and water play
  • Safe with condoms
  • Great for anal use
  •

Be Aware of:

  • May stain clothes or sheets
  • Not compatible with other silicone or other "real feeling" products
  • Can be washed off with soap and warm water
  • Extremely slippery- clean up spills immediately in the tub or shower to avoid slipping.

Other Better Sex Essentials ™ Products:

Better Sex Massage Oil

Massage oils condition skin leaving it soft and supple. They are great for erotic massages, but they are not meant to be used as lubricants as they may degrade condoms and increase the chances of vaginal infections.

Features:

  • All natural
  • Great for sensual massages
  • Fragrance free, but can be customized by adding your own essential oils.

Be Aware of:

  • Not for use internally
  • May stain clothes or sheets
  • Can be washed off with soap and warm water

Better Adult Sex Toy Cleaner

Hygiene is important with adult sex toys. Make sure to clean toys before and after usage. The quickest and surest way to clean and sterilize your adult sex toys is by using an non-irritating, alcohol-free, anti-bacterial toy cleaner.

Features:

  • Fragrance free
  • Quick drying
  • Alcohol Free
  • Anti-bacterial
  • Non-irritating

Be Aware of:

  • Be sure to clean your adult sex toys before and after every use.

I'll admit, I'm not very sure exactly what to order. What would be best though for an erotic massage that can also be used internally? I'd prefer to just use one lubricant. Like you said, the silicone lubricants can definitely stain sheets - I have proof. I'm not a fan of the tackiness of the water-based lubricants and also feel their lubricity is less than the silicone lubricants. So what would you recommend?
